You’ll need a pair of pruners, some chicken wire, and Oasis, which is the soft green blocks you’ve seen in flower arrangements.

1. Start With a Good Base
If you’re making an arrangement in a low vase, the flowers need a structure to hold onto. This also allows you to spread the flowers out to create a a natural look.
Wind the chicken wire to form a base. Or soak the Oasis in water, then transfer it to the vase to stick flowers in.

2. Use Greenery From the Yard

Head outside for long stems of greenery to create a base. Then add your flowers.
Remember not to overcrowd your arrangement. Fluff out the flowers in the vase and add loose greenery for an airy feel.

3. Cut the Stems
If you’re purchasing cut flowers, cut the bottom of the stems at a 45 degree angle.

4. Remove the Leaves
Remove any leaves that will be in the water.

5. Think About Perspective
Your arrangement may change according to the room and height of the table.
