Here’s some quick tips to make 2017 your happiest and healthiest ever!
1. Stock up on good, healthy food. Include fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean proteins.
2. Move every day! Take your dog for a walk, use your treadmill, take the stairs, and do some walking in place during the TV commercials.
3. Sleep more. Studies have shown that sleep is good for the mind as well as the body.
4. Just say ‘No’ to activities and obligations that add stress to your life.
5. Read more! Nothing is as wonderful as enjoying a good book.
6. Volunteer. Find a cause dear to your heart. Your mental and physical health will thank you.
7. Bundle up, go outside and spend time with nature. Studies have shown that spending 30 minutes outside each day will boost your Vitamin D levels and lower your blood pressure.
8. See your healthcare provider for a good check-up and keep your dental health and cholesterol levels on track.
Please share your tips for a healthier and happier 2017 in the comments below. One lucky winner will be randomly chosen to win my sweet holiday romance, A Snowy White Christmas.
Check back on Monday for winner announcement.
That was a great list! I totally agree. In Washington our dept of fish and game support a program called “Go Play Outside” I love it!
Thanks, Yvonne. “Go Play Outside” sounds like a great program.
Love your list . I quit smoking and I also started weight watchers. I want to be very healthy this year. I want to be around to watch my grandchildren grow up.
Lori
Yay for you! Quitting smoking and weight watchers (which I LOVE) are both excellent.
Try to keep happy thoughts about! Good for your well-being!
Excellent advice, Linda. Thanks for sharing!
One of my tricks is whenever I feel hungry and feel like snacking I drink a glass of water first and wait ten minutes if I still feel hungry I’ll get a healthy snack. Many times you won’t be hungry after the water. We often mistake thirst for hunger.
Such a good tip, Diane! I try to drink 8-10 glasses of water every day. It’s so difficult, though. 🙂
That’s a good list. I’d also say spend quality time with your pets. They will give you unconditional love!
Linda,
You are so right! My husband and I LOVE our dog, Henry!

I Love your website!
Aww, thanks, Mona! I don’t watch much TV, either.
Great tips! I need to start moving more!
Me, too, Susan, although I try to hit the treadmill just about every day.
Thanks, everyone, for all your excellent comments.
Sincere congrats, Linda Herold! You’re the winner!
