Valentine’s Day is a wonderful celebration of love and lovers, a day to fall in love! It’s a special time to exchange cards and gits. Chocolate, romantic dinners and flowers are always a fun way to celebrate. Valentine’s Day goes can be traced back to ancient times, when people paid honor to the Roman God of Fertility, the Feast of Lupercalia, celebrated even then on February 14th.
Here’s two interesting facts:
During the year, 75% of chocolate purchases are made by women. However, the days before Valentine’s Day, 75% of the chocolate purchases are made by men.
February 14th was known to be the first day of the bird mating for the season. This fact brought about the custom of sending valentines.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing. 🙂
We usually go out to dinner. We’ve got two sons so there’s always something on the schedule – basketball games, practices, Scout meetings, etc. – so our celebration is always afterwards.
Janet,
Your house sounds like my house from several years ago. My DH and I have 2 sons, then adopted our daughter from S. Korea. (I Love You More is a sweet romance novella–and also an adoption story.) Thanks for sharing!
We are getting ready in April to celebrate 39 years of marriage. I tell him every day how much I love and appreciate him. Valentine’s Day is once a year for most people, but for us it is every day.
Vicki,
Your description of your marriage is extraordinary. Hope you both enjoy a wonderful day!
My hubby and I usually go for a nice dinner and then spend some time together. This year however, we are sick and probably won’t be going anywhere. We may do something when we’re feeling better.
Stephanie,
My husband and I aren’t able to go out on Valentine’s Day/night, either, but will take a “raincheck” this upcoming weekend. Thanks for sharing!
Me and hubby usually either a dinner out or fix something at home , but I’m working that night so it will be a lunch .we have been married for 31 years and still get goosebumps when he kisses me
Diane,
Going out to lunch with your husband on Valentine’s Day sounds perfect. And your description for when he kisses you is so lovely!
Since it’s also our Anniversary, my husband and I usually go out to dinner. He sometimes buys flowers, candy and my favorite of all jewelry. We will be married 36 years this year. My how time has flown. Thanks for chance to win.
Margie,
It’s so romantic that you and your husband were married on Valentine’s Day. And 36 years? Wonderful!

Tiffany,
Going out to eat somewhere more special and out of the ordinary, especially with your family, sounds perfect Thanks for sharing.
We spend a little time together having dinner. He usually gives me a piece of jewelry and an Amazon gift card for books. I get him candy ( he loves candy ) and something I know he’s been wanting.
Then we spend the rest of the evening and night celebrating with our grandchildren. We give them each candy and toys. Then we watch movies and snack and have a blast being together. We do this because nothing makes us happier then spending time with our grandchildren and part of our gift to our daughter and son in law is we keep the kids so they can celebrate alone. We want them to enjoy some time with just each other.
Tammie, I LOVE your wonderful description of Valentine’s Day. The entire day, including enjoying your grandchildren so that your daughter and son-in-law can spend time with each other, is perfect.
Since I have no significant other, I stay home and work. It’s ok. When I had one he never remembered to get anything. Sometimes I meet friends, but my friends are married. I like the other responses.
Thanks for posting, MM!
