Memorial Day Observances

Memorial Day is an American holiday.

On Memorial Day, the United States Flag is raised briskly to the top of the staff, then lowered solemnly to half-mast. It remains there until noon, then the flag is raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day.

Half-mast is in remembrance of the more than one million Americans who gave their lives in service to our country.ย  The flag is raised to full-mast in remembrance of the living, who continue to fight for liberty and justice for all.

This is so close to my heart today! Josie said it well!

    1. Thanks again, MM!

  2. My day started early. I got up to take my aunts to Veterans cemetery that opens at 8 am. There was a line already at that time. Both of their husbands are buried there. Now the men were up grilling. My husband will pick them up around 2 pm for the cookout. Several of them have served. It is a time for family.

The day started early. The aunts wanted to go to Veterans Cemetery which opens at 8 am. There was a line already that early. They wanted to visit their husband graves. We went to breakfast and took them home. Now the men, most of them have served, have been up grilling. We will go pick them back up around 2 pm. There will be prayers offered. Time for family.

    1. Very fitting and respectful observances, Pamela.
